Very unique experience to enjoy home-cooked Ethiopian food in rural Iceland! The service was very charming and the food was great value compared to other Icelandic eateries. While we had prepared ourselves to wait a fair while for the food to arrive, it was with us in no more than 20-30 minutes, so not always the extraordinary wait that other reviews suggest. The food itself was tasty - with the Minilik Special comprising a small portion of lots of the delicious dishes on the menu (and my girlfriend had the vegetarian version which she also thoroughly enjoyed). We would definitely recommend Minilik if you are staying nearby - a place with real authenticity, soul and character!

I had been wanting to go to Minilik for a long time (3years) and finally we did, I have only been to another Ethiopian in my life and I can say that minilik has much more quantity for the price, it's cheaper than the one I went to in Barcelona. The appetizers were small and tasted too much like vinegar, as well as the bread/pancake, but it is good. We then had the special combo and the vegetarian combo. Big quantities, very good quality, it was a bit cold though, but the guy warned us that they are only 2 working and the service would be slow. It wasn't as bad as we thought 🙂 I think the couple is lovely and they are doing their best.

Absolutely delicious food. We loved everything we got. Portions are on the smaller side, so it is advisable to get several different things. Service was a little slow, but it was reasonable for one person handling everything on their own.

Wonderful restaurant and great service! We booked a few days in advance which is advisable, a few people were turned away from the restaurant since it was fully booked. There is a notice at as you enter that the wife is cooking and husband serving, so wait times are to be expected, although we didn't have much of a wait between dishes, as there was an extra waiter at hand. The dishes are full of flavour and quite filling, we were also given extra injera for the meal. The price is very reasonable for Iceland!

STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

Actually the food is AMAZING, and what's more it s GENUINE. It s like I do prepare it at home.
Good quality, no strange additives.
Even the wine wan not bad and I m saying it as per L3 WSET.

The service is a bit slow, but they re in 2 only. I mean the old waiter and the African chef. They advise it at the counter so no need to complain.

Honestly I didn't expect anything special, but it revealed to be a nice SURPRISE. WOW.

Lovely restaurant as near our hotel. We enjoyed secret lagoon and came here for dinner after at 8pm. Thankful it’s still open!

I ordered 10. And my husband tried 17. And they plate it into a platter for us!
Really yummy pan fried lamb with a spicy kick to it. ✨❤️ We enjoyed our meal here.

Overall an extremely pleasant experience. It is said up front that the wait might be longer as this is a business operated by a couple. You know this in advance: don't complain! The food is amazing and we were able to taste a great variety!
