Grossly over priced and nickel and dimmed For virtually everything and not a touch of service! Arrived at approximately 7 PM to a note on the door, giving instructions for self check in… Virtually nothing else… No Guidance for getting food /restaurants nearby and mind you are in the middle of nowhere… We did manage to find one a couple of miles down the road thank God for Internet !
What they did do, however, was post signs virtually everywhere instructing you of all the things you could not do and all of the extra fees and fines for all of the things on premises… Advertised as resort however if you use any of the facilities, you have to pay extra for everything including use of a towel! They set Ridiculous fees for cleaning (Hundred dollars for cleaning up your kitchen area) Surprised they don’t charge you for use pillow or linens…. Very very unwelcoming! Grossly Overpriced! …. they’re so cheap they even watered down all the soaps in the shower! Certainly expected more for nearly $400 for the night! Spent 10 nights at nine different places in Iceland and all the wonderful except for this one!!!!
The entire time you were there, we were not greeted by a single person, nor were there any facilities open those restaurant or bar.

We stayed 2 nights and this was a great location to explore the Snaefellnes Peninsula. We had a standard 2-bed apartment and it was perfect for family of 4. It was great to be able to cook dinner both nights, and the breakfast, served direct to our door, was great. We visited during holiday so had minimal interaction with any staff but had no issues. Do some food shopping on your way out there as it is pretty remote. Also, spend the small extra fee to get a towel for access to the geothermal tub. It was a nice way to end the day, and go for a quick dip in the cold plunge pond too. There is a small bath house and sauna as well. It helped that on our first night the Northern Lights were on full display.

Lovely cabin with spacious kitchen (fully equipped) and living room, bathroom, and bedrooms. Gorgeous free view to the front all the way to the beaches and impressive lava fields and mountains at the back. Cabin was very well isolated.||||Restaurant was unfortunately closed because of winter season. Very friendly reception staff.

We saw the Northern Lights right outside of our cabin. Big hall for breakfast and dinner - felt very Viking. Really liked the hot tub outdoors.

A modern family-run resort on a farm in Miðhraun, located amidst the stunning volcanic landscape and lava fields of Iceland's Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Apartments, cottages and small houses are offered as accommodation. We especially enjoyed the quiet and natural surroundings, the proximity to various sights in the area, but also the comfortable apartments. Our apartment was cozy, spotlessly clean, well-equipped and made us feel at home during our trip. The breakfast trumps any other breakfast we have had in Iceland with the wide selection and is really recommendable. The dinner was also good, but the selection wasn't as big as in other guesthouses and the portions were smaller overall. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The Lava Resort also has a nicely designed geothermal bath (additional fee of 1500 ISK per person and use). A playground for children is also provided. A special highlight are the sheep which you can pet and who were very happy about our visit. Thank you for having us! Hopefully we will be able to visit the Lava Resort again in the future!

BEWARE - Pictures of the location can be misleading! Watch carefully what are you booking. For the lower prices you won’t get a hut, just a small room with a shared bathroom/toilett/kitchen/living room area!

My now wife and I had our wedding reception here. We all had the dinner buffet and it was excellent! The soups and entrees were amazing and it sounds basic, but the whipped butter they have with the bread is crazy good! The owners were very kind and friendly and made excellent accommodations! Additionally the cottages are very nice and cozy. 10/10 would recommend to anyone that finds themselves in on Snæfellsness!

We rented a cottage for two nights. The cottage was cheaply furnished but clean. The staff was very nice, so based on the accomdations, I would have given them a 4 or a five. However, I was very dissapointed in the breakfast and dinner which I would have rated a 2 or 3. I could not find the resort's restaurant , Hladan on trip advisor, so I lumped the hotel and dinnning room together for a 3 .|They serve breakfast starting late at 8:00AM. Everything other place that I have been to in Iceland started breakfast at 7:00AM so you can get an early start. The first morning everything was ready at 8:00AM. However the second morning at 8:00 they were still putting food out and by the time we left at 8:30AM they still had not put everything out.|Dinner was a joke as it was so limited. The first night they only had one appetizer, which was a soup ,and two entrees, a fish dish and a lamb dish. This was one of the mosty expensive dinners on our 12 day Icelandic trip. However, the quality was average. The next night we were told that it was essentially the same limited menu, so we ate elsewhere. The resort advertizes a dinner buffet, but I am not sure how often they have it, since it was not offered the two nights we stayed there.
