We stayed here in January, it was a wonderful experience. The hotel is intimate with exceptional service. They are right in their marketing the breakfast and beds were lovely. We loved the picturesque location, quiet and wonderful people. We used it as a base and the staff were extremely helpful in planning our trips.

We stayed at Hotel Egilsen based on a recommendation from friends who visited Iceland a couple of years ago, and it was an excellent choice. The hotel exudes a cozy, homely charm, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.|Our two-night stay was wonderful. On our first night, we were greeted by Chris (Krzysztof), who helped us check in. He was fantastic—friendly, approachable, and easy to chat with. Knowing we were hungry after our drive from Reykjavik, he not only recommended an excellent seafood restaurant but also helped us secure a reservation.|The hotel features 10 guest rooms and a charming common area downstairs with several tables where guests can relax, enjoy a hot tea, and read a book. Complimentary coffee and tea are provided, and for a small fee, you can purchase beer, wine, or even a fine drink like Johnnie Walker. The ambiance is delightful and inviting. After dinner, my wife and I spent a couple more hours chatting with Chris, who gave us fantastic recommendations for exploring the peninsula.|The next morning, we were warmly welcomed by Marta, who prepared an incredible breakfast. The spread included smoothies, salmon, cheese, yogurt with granola, and fresh fruit—everything was fresh and delicious. Marta was equally friendly and easy to talk to, making us feel right at home.|It’s clear that both Chris and Marta genuinely love what they do. Their passion for hospitality and their enthusiasm for interacting with guests are evident in everything they do.|If you’re planning to stay in Stykkishólmur, Hotel Egilsen should be at the top of your list. We visited in November 2024 (off-season) and stayed on a Saturday and Sunday. We’re already planning to return with our kids next time we visit Iceland and will definitely stay here again.

Bellissima esperienza. Camera grande, calda e pulita; le finestre della camera davano direttamente sull'oceano regalandoci una bella vista. Colazione molto buona e genuina con un ottimo pane fatto in casa.
La cosa più bella però è stata l'accoglienza e la gentilezza dell'oste...POSTO CONSIGLIATISSIMO!!!

Cozy, clean, hotel, with friendly staff. I took a solo trip in Iceland and got a warm welcome and hot tea from staff as soon as I arrived. It was cold and windy, and my third floor room was small and very cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was huge and delicious. I highly recommend this small hotel. It was one of my nicest stays in two weeks of travel in Iceland.

We chose the Hotel Eglisen because of its size (it only has 10 rooms). The ground floor bar and sitting room, where breakfast is also served, is cozy and welcoming. Our room was small but very comfortable with a gorgeous bed. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic with a great selection of juice, fruits, smoked salmon, cheese, eggs and homemade fruit bread. The undoubted crowning glory of our stay were the staff who were so friendly and helpful: nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a memorable stay.

Out of all places we stayed in Iceland, this was the best one. The location is great, right next to the harbour.
Was stood out was the staff, who were incredibly friendly and made us feel at home.
The breakfast costs a bit extra, but is definitely worth it. Not a buffet like in other hotels, but a table filled with bread, fruit and drinks.

De kamer geef ik 5 sterren, verwacht niet dat de kamer groot is, maar sfeervol, schoon, kwaliteit van interieur en totale smaakvolle inrichting. Prima badkamer.
Van onze rondreis Iceland, is dit werkelijk voor ons een 10 normering waard. Beste van alle hotels so far, terwijl wij eerder ook in de betere hotels hebben overnacht.
Ontvangst en verzorging is perfect te noemen. Gastvrij met Hoofdletters!
