We spent one night in the guesthouse nearby the hotel. The location on Lagarfjot lake is nice but we were quite disappointed by the bareness of the room and the facilities. There's no good smell all around. No useful kitchen facility available. Breakfast buffet is excellent but the breakfast room quickly gets full of people from organized trips...Maybe you could find something better for the same price in the surroundings.

Our room was comfy, but lacked light. The guesthouse is a separate house with three rooms. Our room had its own bathroom. The rooms had a central shared kitchen with a refrigerator, coffee pot, tea, coffee and silverware. There is also a hotel and restaurant on the grounds with a bar and a large lounge area. Be sure to see the nearby falls called Hengifoss which has horizontal layers of red rock at the end of a lovely hiking trail which featured other waterfalls and grazing sheep.

We spent 20 minutes looking for the guesthouse. We had a room with shared facilities. the room was quite plain, kitchen was small and in the hallway and there was no common area to eat - we had to eat in our room- which is a bit weird for a guesthouse. No wifi in the guesthouse but only in the main hotel the guesthouse is affiliated with. Nevertheless, breakfast was superb and in a beautiful terrace overlooking the area. Moreover the hotel offers free mountain bikes for guests -even though most of them are not really working.

Our room was a bit too small and the little sink in the way.. Some hooks to hang stuff would be nice.
Bathrooms are sufficient and spacious and clean.
Service was nice. Breakfast was awesome

Das Guesthouse zu erreichen ist leider sowohl telefonisch als auch anderweitig beinahe unmöglich. Die angegebenen Telefonnummern führen zu einem anderen Hotel, deren Rezeptionistin nur noch genervt und sehr schnell die richtige durchgibt. Wer's nich versteht, hat wohl Pech. ||||Nichts desto trotz ist das Hotel sowie das zu bewertetende Guesthouse äußert schön, modern eingerichtet und sauber. Nur isländische Badezimmer sind der letzte optische Graus aber da kann man wohl (noch nicht's) machen. ||||Aktivitäten sind geboten, die Umgebung ist abwechslungsreich - wer nicht im Hotel essen möchte findet 30 min weiter für jeden Geschmack Restaurants und Supermärkte. ||||Das Personal war freundlich, hatte für deutsches Verständnis aber wohl zu sehr die Ruhe weg 😉 nicht tragisch, nur anders.||||Das Frühstück ist mehr als ausreichend. Schön angerichtet, vielfältig und auch für Allergiker (glutenfrei etc) geeignet. Man darf nur hoffen, dass kein deutscher Reisebus das Buffet stürmt, denn offensichtlich vergessen wir dann den Anstand.

Das Guesthouse liegt Mitten im Wald und gehört irgendwie zum angrenzenden Hotel , was sehr luxuriös ist, das Guesthouse dafür nicht. Es gab eine Mikrowelle und einen Wasserkocher, allerdings keinerlei Geschirr (hab im Hotel gefragt und wenigstens Pappbecher für einen Tee bekommen). Entweder wir hatten sehr viel Pech oder es ist immer so (Hotel Hund?), es war ein bellender Hund vor unserem Fenster, der die ganze Nacht durchgebellt hat....Das Frühstück war allerdings sehr gut, weil dieses im Hotel war (Rühreier, Nutella, Speck&Würstchene etc.)

L'entrée de la guesthouse mène à un couloir sombre sans fenêtres et pour cause...nous sommes sous la maison à demi enterré, la vue des fenêtres est donc limitée à une palissade et un talus. Les fenêtres sont très anciennes et laissent passer le froid (pas top en Islande). Il n'y a pas de bac de douche, l'eau inonde toute la pièce et les WC à côté: nous devons donc nettoyer nous même avec la raclette gentiment mis à disposition. Cependant la chambre est très spacieuse et propre.||Le wifi ne fonctionne qu'à l’hôtel à 200m ce qui n'est pas très pratique. ||Le petit déjeuner est très bon et se prend au restaurant de l'hôtel.

We have spent one night in the guesthouse managed by this hotel. Even if location is very nice, service has been deceptive. The guesthouse is separated from the other buildings so there is no control and guests are not always polite! Moreover bathrooms are all open like in a camping really unconfortable even for very easy people. Our room was incredibly small.
