Vi sov inne i greenhouse for å unngå et kjempe uvær utenfor. Det var varmt og lunt å sette opp teltet her. De ansatte er super hyggelige og det er til og med gratis mat stående fra andre backpackere. Helt perfekt!

El camping amplio, muy cuco, 4 duchas agua caliente sin tiempo, 4 baños, 4 fregadores al aire pero cubierto agua caliente solo 2 los otros 2 para rellenar agua.

Sala común muy currada un invernadero, 2 fuegos y utensilios. Este camping está muy bien ya que para los que empiezan tiene productos para coger o usar de la gente que deja cuando terminan el viaje.

Todo por 5000 coronas el único que pide efectivo, a tener en cuenta para sacar dinero, 2 personas y la Camper sin  electricidad.

John el dueño muy amable y risueño, todo bien organizado por parcelas.

Por su precio y lo que ofrece nos gustó, lo recomendamos 100%.

Overcrowded, dirty campsite - CASH ONLY

I’m honestly surprised this place has such a high rating on Google Maps. After traveling in Iceland for 8 days and staying at many campsites, this was unpleasant experience.
First, they only accept cash, which is very unusual, especially being so close to Reykjavík. If you don’t have cash on you, the nearest ATM is about a 7-minute drive away.
Second, the campsite itself is overcrowded and poorly maintained. There are only 4 toilets, 4 showers, and 4 sinks (2 for brushing teeth/drinking water and 2 for washing dishes). Everything around the sinks is constantly wet, and cleanliness is lacking everywhere. I noticed the facilities are only cleaned between 10 AM and 12 PM, so if you arrive later in the day, expect dirty bathrooms. The showers were especially bad — very dirty, with a strong geothermal smell in the water, and black mold in the ventilation.
The cooking area is inside a greenhouse. People use it for cooking, eating, and even drying their hair. Unfortunately, the tables are always dirty since nobody seems to clean up after themselves.

From positive side, you can often find leftover food, spices, and other supplies left behind by travelers, which might be helpful if you’re just starting your trip.
Overall, I was not impressed with this campsite at all.

The showers and toilets are well maintained, they are clean but keep in mind you can smell the sewage from the pipes. Some people are fine with it, my wife wasn't 😅. The kitchen wasn't really well maintained but not a big deal for a one night visit. Still happy to find a place to spend a night in peace.

We had heard that Mosskógar Camping only accepts cash, so we prepared some euros in advance 😂
We paid 63 euros for three people including electricity, which felt a bit pricey.
The owner — the old man — was actually quite kind to us, contrary to some of the negative reviews we’d read.

The sulfur hot spring water in the showers and the greenhouse-style kitchen were quite impressive.
Since it was our first camping site in Iceland, we didn’t really know whether it was good or not — we just enjoyed using it.
As for the items left behind by previous campers mentioned in some reviews, don’t expect too much — most of them seemed like trash, probably because the owner doesn’t manage them very well.

Le meilleur camping de tout notre voyage ! Nous avons commencé par celui-ci et avons adoré ! Le monsieur de l’accueil est super sympa et parle français. Nous avons payé 5000kr pour un bel emplacement. Nous avions accès à de bonnes douches et toilettes ainsi qu’à un espace commun très sympa sous une serre. Nous avons adoré le cadre !

Bardzo ciekawy kemping. Atrakcyjne ceny jak na bliskość Rejkjaviku, bardzo dobrze zorganizowany (wyznaczone miejsca dla samochodów), fajne duże miejsce na gotowanie i jedzenie (w szklarni), spoko łazienki. Ale reszta jak 20 lat wstecz - papierowa mała mapka i jedyny kemping na Isladii, gdzie nie można płacić kartą. Dobrze, że wziąłem trochę euro. Plus jest taki, że wymieniłem też trochę na islandzkie korony - jedyna styczność z monetami na tym wyjeździe 🙂
