Hvordan fungerer Saks Guesthouse

Great place to stay overall. Room was surprisingly spacious with a table and chairs Room was clean and in the common area they have a fridge, kettle, microwave, sink to wash dishes, and everything you need for your own meals. The check in process was fairly easy, my husband found the door key-pad to be quite difficult but it wasn’t an issue. So far the best Aurora viewing was right outside! If you have little kids like we had our own baby, request the first floor and we just stayed outside our window with the baby sleeping while we Aurora watched.

This guest house was a pleasant surprise for our tired souls. We needed a room
to sleep tonight with family of 2 kids. The room was spacious, clean, well equipped , comfy beds and they even set up an extra bed to accommodate our child. Bathroom was also very well
maintained and had really good shower head. Also read reviews here that the breakfast is delicious , looking forward to it.

I think my expectations of this place may have been too high. It definitely felt like a converted hostel. Not somewhere you'd want to hang out in your 'down time' in between lots of outdoor activities. The building and interior are drab. |We had to wait till we'd paid for our stay before we could get access to our room. As there is no reception, this meant we had to wait on arrival till we'd made the payment and it had been 'seen' by the management. Thank god the cafe was open and we could wait there. I don't think it had been made sufficiently clear beforehand that there is no reception and that we couldn't therefore just turn up, pay and get in to our room.|Also, aside from the cafe which is in the same building as the guesthouse, there's basically nowhere nearby to eat. Or maybe there is, but not if you arrive in the late afternoon. The cafe doesn't open till 10am so it's not clear where you can get a decent breakfast nearby if you want to get on the road early.|All that said, it was very clean.

We enjoyed a night at this lovely hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was nice for such a low price compared to others in Iceland. Only issue we had was a slight odor in the room, it wasn’t bad enough to ask for a different room though.

Nice place with a shared fridge. Delicious breakfast, great variety. Friendly staff. Easy to find. Comfy bed! If there were one thing that would have been nice to have, it would have been a hair dryer because my lady really appreciates that.

Stopped for dinner, quick and friendly service and the food was of excellent quality. Recommended, will definitely stop here next time I am in the area.||The restaurant is situated in the newer Co-Op building, built in the early eighties. Back in those days, the Co-Ops built a lot of buildings in the same brutal style, but don’t let that dissuade you. It may look like a concrete bunker, but it is very cozy on the inside 😀

This is the best breakfast we had in whole of Iceland.||||Hosts are nice couple that purchased this property 2021 during covid. Room was big, breakfast amazing, no kitchen, but there was common area with tea coffee and microwave,||||Amazing village in the middle of nowhere on the ring road. Recommend staying here, nice quiet town.

I would give it 5 stars (clean place with toilet and shower in the room) but...
We came at 10:45pm. There is a self check in - hotel sends an email with code to the entrance door, and another code to the box containing the key from the room. There are multiple small boxes on the wall at the entrance door, about 14-16 (I do not remember exactly). Each box has a number on it, and that number corresponds to the room number. One box per room, one key per box. In order to open the box that contains a key from your room - you need to find the box with your room number, and enter a 4 digit password. Each box has a different password.
We booked 2 rooms via Expedia. We got an email from hotel with the code from the entrance door, and only one code from only one box with only one key in it... We got only one room out of two that we booked. Two families (4 people), got only 1 room with 1 bed (that was a double bed that fits 2 people but not 4... plus we all are different people that would not sleep in the same bed even if it could fit 4 people miraculously.
There was a phone number on the wall of the building (outside) to call. However, it wasn't a working number or nobody ever picked up the phone (see screenshot of my calls to this number).
So, after a long, long drive for a few hours through the wind, and rain in the dark night... being exhausted - we got no room, and nobody to call to resolve this issue. Morever nobody followed with us next day, after we left (it was a self check out as well). Nobody even apologized...
P.S. today - next day after I left a review, I got a respond to my review where hotel is basically blaming me in not placing booking correctly, saying "you got what you booked". Now, I really am angry. What a shame owner! You made a mistake not providing 2 keys, and 2 rooms, and you dare to blame us!?
So, one star is too much after all.
P.P.S. I will ask the guy, who booked our rooms to leave a review providing screenshots that show that there were 2 rooms booked, and your email that contains only one pass code to only one key, from only one room!
P.P.P.S. I had no idea that I had to enter a country code, and what that code was. All I know is that it was stressful and bad all the way, and I was running around the building in the middle of the freezing rainy night, trying to look through the windows to see if there is anyone around who could help, and I was knocking on one window because there was a woman who said she just cleans there is the kitchen and cannot help... and then there was a guy who I was begging to help us, saying that the phone number on the wall does not work... No, do NOT say that we smoothly got 2 rooms, and that we got 2 emails. We all checked our email and spams 10 thosand times. The only guy who got an email was the guy who placed a booking for both rooms. One same guy booked both rooms, ane there is only one credit card (his) that paid for both rooms. Bottom line. I am not changing my review. If you sent a second email, them who did you send it to?
