This farm offers so much more than a place to stay in the country. Check out their tours! All are nicely explained and laid out on their website. We did the 2.5 hour birdwatching tour to Langanes, specifically to see the Northern gannet nesting colony. It was incredible! |The gannets are such beautiful, elegant birds. They were sitting on their nests at this time of year and also gliding in from the sea. We watched a Grey seal below them in the water as well.|We walked along amazing sea cliffs with many nesting birds and close up views of kittiwakes, fulmers, puffins, razorbills, and thousands of Common murres (the locals call them guillemots but In North America we know these sleek black and white seabirds as murres). |Despite the hunting/egg collection culture in the area which our tour guide, Mirjam explained, there are some awesome eco-tour features for birdwatchers. These include a large viewing platform constructed above the gannet colony for an amazing, dramatic view of the birds! There is also an elaborate shelter/ bird blind constructed a short distance away. |We also stopped at a beach on the way back to the farm where we saw various wading birds including Ringed plovers (a ‘lifer’ for me!). |Mirjam was a knowledgeable tour guide, she knows the names of the birds in 3 languages! (Dutch, Icelandic, and English). She gave us a very interesting and informative tour in her capable Land Cruiser. She explained the local history and farming culture of the area where many families have left but ironically, the road has been much improved after that. |We did not stay overnight so I can’t comment on the rooms but the large dining area where we could stay for coffee was a beautiful space. |I highly recommend taking a birding tour with Mirjam. We got much more out of a guided tour than if we had driven the peninsula on our own.

Heel fijne plek om heerlijk tot rust te komen!|De eigenaresse Mirjam is Nederlands en heeft ons super veel verteld over de omgeving. Vooral de vogeltocht is een echte aanrader: we hebben veel papegaaien en Jan-van-Genten gezien. Ook is het oude vissersdorpje Skalar indrukwekkend om te zien. Mirjam kan je hier veel over vertellen, wat het nog interessanter maakt. |Kamer is fijn groot, en ook prettig dat je er zelf eten kan maken.

I love this quiet, serene, and wonderful place at the near-end of Iceland. The food is excellent, rooms are clean and inviting, and the location is so peaceful and relaxing. My great-great-grandparents lived at this farm and worked until the mini-Ice Age when they left for North Dakota in the 1880s. It is even more special to me to return but I highly recommend this farm stay to anyone wanting to reconnect with their sanity and stay in a remote location.

I stayed at Ytra Lón with my 2 kids (young adults). We enjoyed a trip out to the peninsula, bird watching and exploring what life used to be like here. The views over the sea are beautiful and this place calms and slows you down. The beach is beautiful too.

the guesthouse is made out of container appartements. This is not really very nice, but practical. The owners tried to make this more cosy by adding a lot of decoration. Not all of it, really fitted. But the rooms are big with fully equipped little kitchen and sofa. But the beds really need a madeup. My hubbies back is not good and he suffered that night.||This is a running farm and there is a lot to see, if you are interessted in dogs and sheeps. Owners are very friendly, as was the staff. Dinner and breakfast was very good, with homemade paté and jams.||We enjoyed our stay and if you want to explore the Langanes peninsula, this is the prefect spot to start.

Situated in a pristine landscape on the beginning of Langanes peninsula in the far North-East of Iceland this is a wonderful place to stay (and even if it is just for one night as in our case, we were on a short round trip and just dropped-in). The construction of the guest-rooms on the farm in a building made from containers is a fun idea, the rooms are large, functional, well equipped and charming in their individual interior design. Breakfast is served in the main room and very good too. And for dinner, visit the next village (about 12 km away), restaurant Baran is worth a visit too!

Very comfortable, well furnished, cozy room with everything we needed for a happy night's stay. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Interesting construction, with the studio apartment constructed from two metal storage containers welded together side-by-side, with the common wall between the containers removed. The flooring and paneling make the room quiet and warm. The electric heaters quickly bring the temperature up to a comfortable level, so there is good insulation.

Everything works well in the kitchen and bath, and all the appliances one expects are supplied. Bed comfortable, linens clean and fresh.

Breakfast is tasty and friendly, and our host Mirjam gave us quite a few good suggestions for a quick explore of the coast before we had to head on. We certainly could have spent 3-4 days here, and we will have to come back and do that next trip.

While I walked around and took photos of the sheep and birds in the morning, I had the welcome company of two friendly sheepdogs.
