The guesthouse at Borg-Njardvik is a duplex located on Margaret & Jacob's sheep farm. They own and operate the guesthouse. Guests can choose between a self-catering apartment or basic accommodations in another apartment with a shared bathroom and communal kitchen and TV lounge. We chose a private room with a shared bathroom and found the communal facilities very comfortable. After driving half way around Iceland, and seeing sheep everywhere, it was fun for us to stay on a sheep farm, meet the farmers, see and discuss their sheep farming operation, and learn more about different aspects of NE Iceland. The facilities were clean, comfortable, and functional. The guesthouse is located near Borg, which is about 5 kilometers north of Bakkagardi on the north side of Borgarfjordur Eystri. The region is very scenic and has an immense population of migratory birds during the summer. We enjoyed meeting the owners and had a long and very interesting conversation with Margaret about sheep and sheep farming in Iceland. It was one of our favorite accommodations and a memorable aspect of our trip.

As we were four, we were staying finally in the apartment on the ground floor which was composed of two bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen opened to the living room. |We spent 2 good nights on this remote farm. We could see some birds 🦅 , sheeps🐑 and horses 🐎. And a couples kilometers far there is a possibility to see puffins and also go hiking (what we had done). And the scenery is very beautiful.

Wir wurden eine Straße weiter in einem anderen Haus untergebracht. Leider war die gesamte Unterkunft nicht sauber. Sowohl die Sauberkeit in Küche, Gemeinschaftsbad und Toilette ließ stark zu wünschen übrig. Die Amaturen im Bad waren stark vergilbt. Meine Frau weigerte sich zu duschen (und wir haben Campingerfahrung!!!). Am verschmierten Fenster im Zimmer lagen dutzende tote Fliegen. Im gesamten Raum roch es modrig - vermutlich wird der Raum nur selten vermietet. Leider waren auch die Matratzen extrem durchgelegen. Rückenschmerzen inklusive! Frühstück hätte extra gekostet. Für knappe 100 € denke ich darf man doch ein wenig mehr erwarten - auch in Island. Die Fotos zeigen von was ich spreche!!!||||Die Lage ist gut... sonst leider nichts!

My son and I stayed two nights at Guesthouse Borg Njardvik. We chose it on the former Icelandic Farm Holidays (now Hey Iceland) website, where we booked the majority of our accommodations. Nowhere on the listing did it specify that it was located in an extremely remote location on a gravel highway. The listing also mentioned a restaurant and supermarket in the nearest town, Borgarfjörður eystri. We arrived in the evening, there was no one to check us in, just a note on the door to let ourselves in. When we went into town, we found only one restaurant serving one thing: meat soup and bread. Granted, it was very good soup, but after a long day of travelling, we were looking for something more substantial. We did feel grateful there was one establishment that was open, as we also found out the "supermarket" is open crazy hours. Which means we had to food for breakfast, and had to drive an hour back to Egilsstaðir, where the only food we could find was fast food at the N1 gas station. While the accommodations at Guesthouse Borg Njardvik were admittedly comfortable, the food situation was not. If you're going to stay here, be sure to stock up on provisions in Egilsstaðir. There was a fully equipped kitchen in our unit, but useless since we hadn't brought food, and the grocery store was open only crazy hours.

Relaxing stay at a farm guesthouse in the middle of nowhere, 10 km to the nearest town, Bakkagerði where you can go and see the puffin! Shared bathroom, delicious breakfast, fantastic relaxing ocean sound (located just be a black sand beach).

La nuits s'est très bien passée, guesthouse très propre, équipée et chaleureuse ! Mais le meilleur reste à venir pour le matin avec un petit déjeuner digne de ce nom proposant sucré comme salé avec des produits d'une grande qualité et encore mieux la maîtresse de maison chante et joue de la guitare dans la pièce à côté d'une voix divine ! Incroyable n'est ce pas ?!
