We booked Ásahraun for a unique stay in Selfoss and were not disappointed! We arrived about 9 p.m. and were greeted by their management team, of two of the most wonderful dogs you could ever meet. The black lab entertained us with his amazing fishing buoy tricks while his companion sat there patiently watching. Our barrel cabin was #3, right next to the hot tub which was delightful. If you are expecting a large. Suite, then this is not your accommodation. The barrels are “two rooms” with the front of it having a mini fridge, and other conveniences and a half bath on the other side (showers are two cabins down). We had a long day of hiking and driving, so the fact that the hot tub was next door was much appreciated. We sat in the open air hot tub, relaxing and staring gazing and the only thing we could have wished for was an aurora but anyone who has travelled to Iceland knows it is hit or miss. In Iceland every bed has a down quilt and homes are heated to higher temperatures than on the West Coast of Canada so I appreciated the cotton throw and wool blanket and it was honestly the best sleep I had in the 10 days we were there.|The owner was wonderful and loved talking to her and spending a few final minutes with the management team.|I would highly recommend this unique experience to anyone heading to Iceland.

Oh my god, this place! This is it. You've arrived.

If you're looking for quiet, romantic serenity that's off the beaten path, this place is amazing. There are 3 small barrel houses located on a farm maybe 15 minutes outside the city of Selfoss. The tiny homes are clean and well-kept, quiet, and romantic. They have two twin beds, a bathroom, and small entryway with a bit of storage and a small fridge. There is a hot tub that the owners maintain with natural geothermal water that sits right outside the left-most house, which you can access at any time (just be quiet for respect of the other guests). You'll have great views of mountains in the distance and the surrounding farmland - it's very quiet and comfortable.

You share a small shower room between all 3 cabins, and there is also a fairly large kitchen/dining room building that is fully stocked with cookware and utensils.

Overall, this was our favorite place that we stayed in our 16-day trip through Iceland. We will undoubtedly return.

Die Fässer sind echt cool. Sehr sauber, zweckmäßig, für den Platz optimal eingerichtet. Extrem ruhig gelegen. Von der Ringstrasse ca. 1,5 km über Schotterstrasse. Es gibt auch eine Gemeinschaftsküche, die sehr gut eingerichtet ist. |Dusche außerhalb zwischen den Fässern, ebenso ein Hot Tube.

Posto delizioso! 3 casette a forma di botte, ben arredate, tutto in legno, ben scaldate con un piccolo bagno con lavandino e wc, piccolo patio, frigo e dotazione per preparare the o caffè. Prese elettriche a volontà m, luci e ganci per appendere gli abiti. Doccia comune in una casetta collocata fra la prima e la seconda botte, hot tube dietro la terza. A 50 metri la cucina, in un locale dedicato, allegra e fornita di tutto il necessario. Prezzo super onesto per un riposo nella natura

Guesthouse semplicemente fantastica. Piccole botti in legno arredate con tutto il necessario, calde accoglienti e pulite alla perfezione. La doccia é a breve distanza dall'abitazione, la cucina in condivisione è ampia e fornita di tutto il necessario.
Per chiudere in bellezza, due sere su due abbiamo visto l'aurora boreale fuori dalla porta di casa. Cosa chiedere di meglio.

Loved this place and the experience of sleeping inside a "barrel". The woman who greeted us was very caring, showed us around and helped us with all our questions. A super plus for the hot tub they have at 41 celsius during winter was an amazing experience. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own dinner. It got a little cold during our first night inside the room, but understandable since it was -18 celsius outside.
