La camera non era stata pulita bene, c'era dell'acqua nel bollitore, polvere sugli scaffali e dei residui di cibo sul tavolo. La colazione era scarsa, senza opzioni dolci ad eccezione delle marmellate.

Hotel was easy to get to. We got in around 18:00 and the room key was waiting for us on the counter.

The room and bathroom were both clean no complaints.

The breakfast was included with the room and was basic but good.

All in all Hotel Austur was a good experience and would recommend

This hotel is nothing else than a place to lay your head. If you are looking for a “hotel” this is not it. The rooms are good to lat your head to get sleep.|They offered a musroom soup which was thin and very basic. The bread was kind of bread you get frozen in Bónus grocery put in an oven or defrosted. The main meal was chicken which was dryer than a napkin and the “gravy” tasting like a spiced water. The potatoes are like the one you get precooked from Bonus grocery store and heated in an oven, served with a sparkle of dill spice. The salad was as simple that a ten year old could do better. |There is a total lack of inexpensive detail to make the place ok. If you can imagine a hotel without a character, you got it.|But….if you are tired and need a place to stay, you got it.

Solid. Under new management/ownership spring 2024. Doesn't look snazzy from the outside but inside we had a good size room & good bathroom/shower. Solid breakfast in the morning. Only significant issue was plug ins only on the opposite side of the bedroom from beds. Room had a TV which was fairly unusual in our Iceland lodgings. ||Good spot in the Eastfjords. 3 minutes to Hwy 1, 25 minutes to Egilsstadir, easy access to the to the Eastfjords north and south as well as inland around Lake Lagarfljot. Small town (1350 pop) but more services for travelers than in more hyped Seydisfjordur. ||Kronan grocery store and bakery around the corner.||Would stay again.

This was one of the more affordable stays I had while in Iceland. I'd say it was pretty easy to get to the hotel. It's pretty straight forward on the GPS/Google Maps.

My room keys were conveniently left at the front desk with a note as I was arriving fairly late. I took my keys and made my way to my room on the 2nd floor.

Room was a bit smallish, but clean. Had a TV, a working fridge, a coffee maker, and a comfy bed. Washroom was pretty clean too.

So, this bit is weird. My stay included a breakfast until 10AM. I showed up at the lobby at 8AM, but there was no one there. No guest, no staff member, and the lights in the dining hall were off. I just helped myself to some bread, some cookies, and some juice & tap water from their kitchen. Figured no one would mind me going in the kitchen considering there was no one there to mind... LOL. Found a nice spot to sit in the dark dining area.

I can't speak much to what activities/points of interest were around the hotel as I only stayed a night & had to leave pretty early the next day to make my way further north before the weather made a turn for the worse. There's a couple of gas stations close by, one of which is 24 hours (don't remember the name, but it's across the street from the post office). You can walk to this for a late night stroll or something.

Für eine Nacht zur Übernachtung in Ordnung. Abendessen war genießbar, aber nicht außergewöhnlich. Das Frühstücksbuffet war kontinental ohne warme Speise. Dem Personal ist es nicht gelungen, Kaffee für die Kaffeemaschine zu besorgen, der war am Sonntagabend (oder schon früher) ausgegangen, aber am Montag früh hätte man ihn wohl wieder besorgen können. Der Gesamteindruck des Hotels entspricht sozialistischen Hotels der 60er, aber die Zimmer sind zur Übernachtung in Ordnung. Wer im Obergeschoss wohnt, muss das Gepäck eine enge Treppe hinauf tragen.

Completely devoid of any character/charm and looks like some type of low end business centre place that was converted into a hotel. The girl working on the reception desk was friendly but the building itself doesn't feel welcoming.|The room door kept getting stuck and we struggled several times to open it.|There are only two electric points in the entire room, neither is next to the bed. |The bathroom is a wet room with the shower positioned right next to the door so the entire area gets flooded and you have to step on the wet floor every time you want to reach the toilet or the sink. Really weird. If they at least had a shower curtain that would help contain the water a bit.|Breakfast is included in the price but the offering is pretty disappointing.|It was cheap (for Iceland)|If I was staying in the area again I would pick a different place.

It’s an outdated hotel with poor rooms and basic breakfast. Was only for one night, but I wouldn't stay longer than that. Expensive for what you're getting. Would recommend to explore other properties first. The only positive comment is their staff are friendly and try their best to accommodate your needs.
