We traveled with a tour group for a week and were both sick and exhausted. The first thing we both did upon settling into our room was take a nap. This place is quiet, peaceful, and felt like home from the moment we arrived. It was the perfect place to recover. No pressure. In the evening we fixed a little supper in the kitchen and cleaned up. Loved being able to make a cup of tea any time I wanted.||The ladies who prepared our breakfast turned out to be delightful people; They helped us decide on where to go for our independent excursions, where to go shop and to understand some of the local history. ||There is a pig. It is huge. We were advised to not feed the pig as it can become quite aggressive about food. We did not feed the pig.||Superb walking path through the valley along the little river. Scenic, low key and relaxing. I not only recommend it, I would go back in a New York minute.

Found this gem last minute. Great location if you plan on exploring the golden circle, however we'd found that out AFTER going to the golden circle. So keep this in mind if you're looking for a good base to begin from. ||||We drove up to Tjaldanes, greeted by horses, dogs and a little pig. It couldn't have made for happier entrance. The owners were sweet and very accomodating, making sure we felt at home. Which we did. It felt like a home away from home, cabin-like. The rooms were cozy, the communal area warm with games, books a big comfy couch. Lots to look at! Great breakfast in the morning. The place had a lot of character. Spent the next morning chatting with this gentleman named Siggi, who was more than pleasant and excited to tell us all about Iceland. Highly recommend this place! We'll be back in the winter!

We found Tjaldanes at the last minute through trip advisor. What a little gem. A very country setting with lots of dogs, goats, and a giant pig roaming the area. We had been tent camping throughout our travels in Iceland, but wanted a little more comfort on our last night before our flight home. It felt like a little luxury after two weeks in a tent,.

This place isn't exactly what you'd expect, unless you expect to get out of your car on arrival and be greeted by a huge but friendly pig and some goats. Make sure you give them a good pat if you visit!||The place is clean and warm, though it does feel a bit like you are on school camp with its long and large building and large central common room/kitchen. There is good wifi and the place is quiet being a few km away from the main drag. You'll need to drive there and to drive 5mins to find a place for dinner and breakfast.||Its great value to stay here and on the road to the Golden Circle too.

I stayed with my parents, for one night. We arrived late (10pm?) and were welcomed by the woman running the place. She was so kind she immediately started to help with our heavy suitcases! We were the only people at the house and it felt like home, the kitchen was spacious and you can make tea or coffee there. The breakfast was really tasty and filling, and we got nice tips from the woman running the place, she was extremely friendly and easy-going. Definitely worth the price, and a short distance to Geysir and Gulfoss!

I stayed here for one night in August. This is a lovely house with clean bathrooms and a large and well equipped kitchen. The owner made us breakfast which was really delicious, the usual fare, with lovely strong coffee. Met the resident pig, goats and dog. It is in a nice position for sightseeing at the Pingvellier National Park. The owner was super friendly and kind. Had a good time here. Definitely worth the price, especially as breakfast is included in the room rate.

We recently spent a night at Tjaldanes Room for Rent and it was very cozy, comfortable and clean. The owners are super nice and make you feel like you are at home. The location is kind of in the country, just outside Mosfellsbaer, and is very convenient, but feels quite rural. The friendly animals that roam the property are an added plus!

Appena fuori dal parco di Thingvellir c'è questa piccola guesthouse poco conosciuta. Eravamo gli unici ospiti e la signora è stata gentilissima! Stanza enorme e due bagni a disposizione. Cucina ben fornita per prepararsi la cena e troverete una colazione favolosa preparata dalla proprietaria. Vale la pena fermarsi qui dopo il giro al golden circle invece che pernottare a reykjavik, che è molto vicino. Non ci sono ristoranti a distanza camminabile. Bisogna avere la macchina anche per raggiungere il supermercato.
