Mjög notalegur staður, gott andrúmsloft og þægileg þjónusta. Heitir pottar og lítil sundlaug eru staðsettt fyrir utan herbergin og snúa að skarðinu. Mjög gott að slaka á þar úti í náttúrunni og fara svo í slökunarherbergi með víxlfótaböðum, svona fyrir matinn. Við komum örugglega aftur!

We chose this hotel as our first stop before starting our journey, to switch into vacation mode – and we were not disappointed!

First of all, I am very grateful that we were given a better room than we had booked. The room was spacious and had a beautiful river view. We also booked directly through the hotel's website and opted for a package that included dinner – highly worth it!

On top of that, there is a sauna, and the hot baths are amazing. The hotel is located next to a hot spring, where they even cook food. You can boil eggs for breakfast, and during dinner, you can taste delicious desserts and lamb cooked in the hot spring. The staff is kind and friendly.

Because of all this, we decided to stay here again at the end of our trip. We enjoyed the Northern Lights from the hot tub and had another fantastic dinner at the restaurant.

Beautiful hotel in the most stunning location along the Varma river. The included breakfast buffet was delicious & it felt magical to sit in the glass conservatory in the snow along the water.
Our room with the balcony was the perfect size for two people. The in floor heating in the bathroom was a nice surprise!
The town it’s in is a cute place to explore for a day & the trails behind the hotel make for some stunning views. The hotel gave us bathrobes & slippers to walk around the property to get to the hot tubs.
Only gave it a 4/5 overall because of a few minor gripes. For me personally, bath towel quality plays a big role into my hotel experience, and these were disappointing. The shower had low water pressure, but not a huge deal. Then the hot tub was always full, so we didn’t get a chance to enjoy but not a big deal either since we were so busy otherwise!

Het hotel toont een vervallen indruk. Dakgoten kapot en alles vuil. De kamers zijn klein en gedateerd wel schoon met goede bedden.
Maar voor een nachtje prima te doen.
Maar de prijs per nacht is in ons optiek te duur voor wat het hotel te bieden heeft
Wij hadden geluk dat we een kamer met rivier zicht hadden maar niet alle kamers hadden dit

Fantastic hotel, excellent experience from start to finish. Amazing customer service very friendly and welcoming and happy to assist with any requirements we had. Includes sauna and spa pool which overlooks the river and mountain. The restaurant was delicious and catered for gluten intolerant partner. The breakfast an equally delicious buffet which included fresh waffles 🤩 would definitely stay again next time we’re in Iceland.

We have stayed many places around Iceland and this ranks among our favorites! The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the hotel. Cozy boutique feel. Great views. Amazing chef with top notch restaurant. We had a fabulous 5 course dinner. Hot tub was so nice near the river, making it feel like you’re in nature in the middle of nowhere. The rooms were quaint and very Icelandic feeling—lamb fur and wool and even Sóley bath products in the shower. We would definitely stay here again!

An adorable boutique hotel just outside of Hveragerði. We stayed here for two nights and had our wedding reception here. The hotel is adorable and intimate. It is nestled right on the river and is in a quite area just outside of town. The restaurant did an absolutely amazing job with the dinner and reception. The employees were incredibly kind and hospitable. My partner and I are lactose intolerant and they ensured that we had options at breakfast. Finally, because of where the hotel is located, we were able to see the Northern Lights both nights we were there! If you are looking for a bit of a getaway and some seclusion, this is a fantastic hotel.

We just spent 10 days in late January traveling throughout southern Iceland, staying in a wide variety of locations. We booked two nights at Frost & Fire based on the other glowing reviews. We were disappointed to find that this hotel is ridiculously overpriced for what it offers, in comparison to all of the other hotels we visited. If "boutique" means tiny outdated rooms, a chaotic layout, poor communication from staff, and lack of grounds maintenance, then Frost & Fire fits the definition. For example, the paths and steps to the highly-promoted hot tubs, and even to the rooms, were treacherous, unshoveled, and icy for our entire visit. Liability exposure aside, it just isn't very welcoming. Really, how hard would it be to just run a shovel over the paths each morning? And the "heated pool" was frozen over with slush and closed. Sadly, we also never got to try the highly-touted restaurant, since (without warning us when we checked in) they had booked a private wedding party and closed the restaurant when we would have had dinner there. Apparently the restaurant is a separate business from the hotel. Our room had a nice view of the river, but it was a tired 1970s-era construction, with absolutely no sound insulation between rooms. The shared balcony/porch along all of the riverfront-view rooms was a bit odd, with the potential for guests from adjoining rooms to wander by your windows and gawk anytime. And the porch lights from the adjoining rooms shine directly into your room, making it less appealing to leave your curtains open to see the evening views. Overall, the hotel has seen better days, and certainly does not offer value compared to any of the other places we stayed.
